JF&CS offers a variety of counseling, support and discussion groups and workshops on a wide variety of topics of interest to individuals, families, schools, congregations and community organizations.

Our group approach opens the door to the many benefits of a carefully assembled and professionally led group. Members can become mutually supportive in the safe and trusting environment of the group and learn new ideas and skills from each other and from the leader. Our groups include:

  • Adolescent Girls Group—An opportunity for teenage girls to discuss issues regarding family, friends, school, relationships and sexuality.

  • Sandwich Generation Support—Encouragement and information for those facing the stresses of being an adult child of aging parents. How to balance family responsibilities, parents' increasing needs and self-fulfillment.

  • Bereavement Group for Widows and Widowers—For support, sharing and learning to deal with loss and loneliness as well as practical adjustment issues.

  • Social Skills Group—Teaching your child how to succeed in school, home and with friends.

Jewish Identity and Continuity programs provide information, direction and encouragement to individuals and groups as they struggle with the issues facing the Jewish community today. Programs include:

  • Grandmas Aren't Bubbies Anymore—About the changing roles of grandmothers in Jewish culture today.

  • The Phone Call—When a college student calls to announce he is bringing home a girlfriend for the holidays.

  • The Weekend—What happens when a man changes his weekend plan of visiting his mother in a senior residence.
